What to expect
when you first visit.
Experiencing a church for the first time can be exciting but also can be filled with a little apprehension. We've put together a short list of expectations when you first visit our church to help ease you into the worship experience at Calvary.
First, find the Welcome Center.
When entering either of our main entrance doors, you'll head straight into the foyer adjacent to the auditorium where you'll find the Welcome Center and someone there to greet you. There we will meet your family, answer your questions, show you and your children to the appropriate classrooms, and try to make your first visit begin as smoothly as possible. You will also find some really good coffee in the same area ready just for you!
What about my children?
We strive to give children a safe and age appropriate experience where they can learn about Jesus' love for them in a creative and relevant way. We have programs for all ages ranging from nursery through high school during our Discipleship hour (beginning at 9:15am), and we offer Junior Church for kindergarten through the 4th grade during our morning worship service in our Fellowship Hall. The staff at the Welcome Center will be able to show you where classrooms are located and explain drop-off and pick-up times.
What should I wear?
We don't require a dress code although our leadership will wear business casual in general, but many will come dressed for comfort depending upon the weather. We value life change more than appearance change.
What if I don't have a Bible?
Every part of our ministry emphasizes God's Word. In order to serve our people better, we've determined that it would be helpful to have Bibles in our pew racks for folks to use, take, read, borrow and have as their own (we'll buy more!). If you don't have a Bible, we encourage you to use the one in the pew and take it home when you leave. Read it for all your worth; it's God's love letter for you.
When does the service end?
Our worship service begins promptly at 10:30am each Sunday morning and will end around 11:30am. The first several minutes include congregational singing, Scripture readings, prayers, testimonies and announcements. The remainder of the service is devoted to the preaching and teaching of God's Word and lasts approximately 30-35 minutes.
